- Clinical Family Navigator
Description
The Navigator provides short-term, solution-focused counseling and support to autistic patients and their families. Delivers supportive psychotherapy to individuals and families navigating the challenges of autism. Connects patients and families to appropriate services across medical, educational, and community settings to enhance quality of life; including but not limited to referrals for medical and psychiatric care, school-based services, food assistance, and guidance in applying for programs such as the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).Provides personalized guidance to patients and families by tailoring support to their unique needs and circumstances. Facilitates family consultation sessions. Offers behavioral and systems-level support by helping families navigate complex healthcare processes. Works closely with CADB clinicians to provide counseling and guidance related to autism services, ensuring families understand available resources, treatment options, and care pathways. Conducts comprehensive assessments of patient and family needs to identify challenges impacting care. Responds to emergency situations with sound judgment and knowledge of available resources. Educates and empowers families to effectively navigate complex legal, educational, social, and medical systems by providing clear guidance, resources, and practical strategies. Engages in research and quality improvement initiatives focused on family navigation by collecting and analyzing data, identifying trends, and contributing to evidence-based practices. Participates actively in clinic meetings by sharing observations, providing input on best practices and gaps, identifies potential barriers to care, and recommends strategies to ensure continuity and quality of services for patients and families.
This is a full-time position located at NewYork-Presbyterian / Westchester Behavioral Health's Center for Autism and Developing Brain.
This is a grant funded position that will last at least 18 months.

Requirements
Required Criteria
Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work
NYS license in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC) OR Social Work (LMSW)
Limited permit may be accepted in lieu of a license at hire; however, the full license must be obtained upon the permit’s expiration.
Familiarity with community resources and outreach activities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Strong cultural sensitivity and ability to serve diverse populations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Empathetic listening and interpersonal skills
Experience working on a multidisciplinary team
Experience working with autistic individuals or individuals with intellectual disabilities (IDD)
Preferred Criteria
Ability to speak Spanish
